Ben Foster (57.78 points), who has been waiting in the shadow of Dutch international Edwin van der Sar (112.84 points) for a chance to prove himself at Manchester United, seems to be relishing his long-awaited opportunity and is making the best of it, taking just a month to climb to the top tier of the FTBL ranking of English goalkeepers.
Foster has a perfect change to grab the top spot in that ranking as early as in the coming weekend, when the Red Devils take on Stoke City in Premier League action: he will have a plank of just a single rating point to beat. If United win without conceding a goal, Foster will boost his overall FTBL rating by 14.6 rating points. But even if he concedes, he stands to lose just 3-5 points.
On the other hand, current leader West Ham United’s Robert Green (67.25 points) will have a plank of 14.6 rating points to beat against Liverpool. Given Green’s potential losses and Forster’s potential gains, it appears more likely that the Manchester United man will grab that top spot after all.
