Argentina coach Diego Maradona is probably misguided when he stubbornly continues to leave out of his squad Olympique Lyon’s striker Lisandro López, even as the FTBL Rating clearly shows that he is the best Argentine forward at the moment.

López has continued to score goals after joining the 7-time France champions at the same clip as he did at FC Porto. His goals and Lyon’s victories have propelled him to the top of the FTBL ranking of Argentine forwards with a tally of 148.84 points. On the contrary, Maradona’s favorites, Inter Milan’s Diego Milito and Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez, are in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively, with 135.88 points and 98.73 points.

López is 17th in our world ranking of forwards. He will have a daunting plank of 22.62 rating points to beat in his next game. He set the plank so high in Lyon’s 5:1 trashing of Andelecht in the Champions League qualifying stage last August.
