Real’s Ronaldo Could Top FTBL World Ranking After Tonight’s Game

The World Footballer of the Year in 2008, Real Madrid megastar Cristiano Ronaldo, has a golden opportunity to grab the leadership in the FTBL World Ranking of strikers after today’s game against struggling Villarreal in La Liga.

Ronaldo is currently 2nd in the world ranking of forwards, behind Valencia’s Spain international David Villa (218.03 points), with an overall FTBL rating of 213.78 points. While Villa will face a daunting plank of 37.95 rating points when Valencia travel to Getafe, a plank he set when Spain trashed Belgium 5:0 in World Cup 2010 qualifying recently and he had a double, Ronaldo will have to clear a plank of just 9.45 rating points.

Ronaldo set the plank in Portugal’s laborious 1:1 draw in World Cup 2010 qualifying in Denmark on September 5. By all accounts, the road seems cleared for the Portuguese to finally rise to the top.
