Barcelona’s Argentine prodigy Lionel Messi (pictured) has reclaimed the top spot in the FTBL World Ranking of midfielders, toppling former leader, Chelsea’s Frank Lampard.
Messi returned to the top as Barcelona downed Málaga 2:0 in their 5th consecutive win in La Liga action. He picked up 15.9 rating points to boost his overall FTBL rating to 199.79 points.
Former leader Lampard slid to 3rd place as the Blues were shocked by 10th-placed Wigan Athletic 1:3 yesterday in Premier League action. Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard netted one in the Reds’ demolition of Hull City (6:1) to remain in 2nd place with a tally of 183.13 points.
