Zenit St. Petersburg’s Aleksandr Anyukov captured the lead in the FTBL ranking of Russian defenders as his side defeated CSKA Moscow 2:0 in Russian Premier League action yesterday.

Anyukov earned more than 6 rating points in our system to take his overall FTBL rating to 92.79 points, demoting from the top rival Sergei Ignashevich of CSKA Moscow, who lost 16.43 rating points in the game to see his tally shrink to 83.47 points.

Anyukov will have a plank of 9.3 rating points to beat in his next game, while Ignashevich will face a daunting plank of 22.99 rating points. A return to the top appears very unlikely for the CSKA defender.
