Salzburg striker Mark Janko has been lining one exploit after the other in the Austrian league with enviable regularity, inspiring effusive headlines.
We have written about Janko’s recent 4 goals against bottom-placed SK Austria Kärnten in league action. But he has other achievements worth looking into: last season, for example, he scored 30 goals in 20 games! He had 4 hat-tricks and once scored four goals in one game. Janko has scored 52 goals so far this season in the 55 league games tracked by the FTBL system, an achievement that has not gone unnoticed in some European corners.
Some now believe Janko has outgrown the Austrian league and is ready for a tougher challenge. It is therefore little surprise that he has reportedly attracted the interest of such Premier League outfits as Blackburn Rovers and Fulham. A transfer seems around the corner. If Janko ends up in England and scores even a quarter of what he does at the moment in Austria, it is safe to bet his emergence as one of the world’s top strikers is only a matter of time.
