Werder Bremen striker Aaron Hunt, whom Germany coach Joachim Lowe continues to ignore, has attracted the attention of another star coach, Liverpool’s Rafael Benitez: reports in the German media claim Benitez is willing to trade Dutch international Ryan Babel for Hunt.
But will Aaron fit in? We think, more likely yes. He is currently in 4th place in the FTBL ranking of German forwards, is young (23), and of English descent (his mother is a Briton). The only drawback here could be the fact that he endured racial abuse during the game against England in the U-21 European Championships.
But will a move to England be a good bet for Hunt himself? At Bremen he gets plenty of help from Peruvian Claudio Pizarro, while he is more likely to play second fiddle at Liverpool, next to such established names as Dirk Kuyt and Fernando Torres. In our opinion, young Hunt needs to take his time and not rush into a deal at the moment.
