Two of the world's most prominent strikers in the FTBL world ranking, Wolfsburg’s Edin Dzeko and Valencia’s David Villa (pictured), will faceoff when Bosnia Herzegovina host Spain today in World Cup 2010 qualifying, with both facing the real prospect of dropping in the chart.
Dzeko is the world’s top striker at the moment on the FTBL ranking with a tally of 225.57 points, but he will have to clear a daunting bar of 27 rating points in the game just to remain at the top. In addition, just scoring might not be enough: Bosnia will have to win, which could be a tall order, considering that Spain are at the moment one if the world’s top teams. Given that the Spaniards have already qualified for the World Cup finals in South Africa and that Bosnia are readying themselves for the battle of the playoffs, Dzeko might not have so much of a hard time.
In the meantime, Villa, who is in 3rd position in the world ranking with a tally of 197.83 points, will have a plank of 22 points. He needs to score as well in order to advance in the ranking. But given the low importance of the game, it is unlikely coach Vicente Del Bosque will risk his top players. Which means Villa is more likely than not to drop.
