Fiorentina’s Alberto Gilardino (pictured) further extended his lead in the FTBL ranking of Serie A strikers over rival Samuel Eto’o of Inter Milan as he scored one of the goals in the Italians’ 4:3 away win over Hungarian side Debreceni VSC in their Champions League group stage match last night.
While Gilardino helped Fiorentina win their encounter on the road, Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o was powerless as Inter Milan escaped defeat against Dynamo Kyiv at the San Siro thanks to a Walter Samuel goal at the 47th minute (2:2).
Gilardino earned 14.2 rating points for his effort to take his overall FTBL rating to 176.33 points, while Eto’o lost 11.4 rating points to slump to 153.77 points.
Both players will have a perfect opportunity to redress the bar when they play at home in their next games with a similar plank of just a single rating point to beat: Inter will host Catania, while Fiorentina will take on Napoli in Serie A action.
