Asenal’s Robin van Persie’s game of late elicits nothing but praise: as his latest scoring run ended in the game against AZ Alkmaar in the Champions League, he has launched another in earnest with 3 goals in 2 games in a row.
Even the goalless thriller against Alkmaar could not spoil the overall positive picture: van Persie has earned 115 rating points in the FTBL system in his last 5 games alone!
But he will now have to “defend” all those earned points. Can he do that? Let’s do the math: victories in 2 games will earn him 15 rating points; and 5 wins, 75 points. Let’s add, say, 3 goals and we have 18 rating points. The addition still remains way below 100, and this is only if the Gunners have a perfect run.
The most probably scenario for the Dutch international, therefore, is a drop to the 160- to 165-point mark by the end of November. Don’t get us wrong, we will be thrilled if the Dutchman proves us wrong here: we love goals, just like the rest of you.
