Barcelona’s France skipper Thierry Henry (pictured left) will have a perfect opportunity to overtake Chelsea’s Nicolas Anelka (pictured right) in the FTBL ranking of French strikers when the Tricolors take on Ireland in the first game of their World Cup 2010 playoffs next Saturday.
Henry is currently #2 in the ranking with an overall FTBL score of 160.61 points, while Anelka, who is a central piece of coach Carlo Ancelotti’s new Chelsea construct, is #1 with a tally of 167.72 points. Henry is 11th in the world ranking of forwards; and Anelka, 9th.
Henry is in a better position to add to his tally and claim the top spot in the ranking given he will face a plank of just 3 rating points to beat in the game, while rival Anelka has a higher plank of 14 rating points to beat. A solid performance could be all the Barca forward needs to move to the top.
