As Russia prepare to travel to Slovenia for game 2 of their World Cup 2010 playoff, Chelsea’s Yuri Zhirkov (pictured left), who wasted an excellent chance to score in game 1 in Moscow, will have a perfect opportunity to boost his overall FTBL score.
Zhirkov has scored not a single goal with the Russian team despite playing 33 games, and if he can score in the coming game, his FTBL score could move beyond the 100-point mark.
Zhirkov will go into the game with a guaranteed bonus of 2.03 points. His score slid into negative on May 24 in CSKA Moscow’s 0:1 loss to Kuban, back in his Russian Premier League days. Since moving to Chelsea, he has played just 2 club games and 2 with the Russian team.
With a tally of 70.93 points at the moment, Zhirkov can hit the 100-point mark only if Russian win in Slovenia. In case of a draw, Russia will qualify for the finals in South Africa, but Zhirkov’s FTBL score will improve just a little.
