The French won game 1 of their World Cup playoff against Ireland with the narrowest of margins (1:0), but that helped the FTBL scores of defenders, particularly Arsenal’sBakari Sagna (pictured right), who added more than 15 rating points.
Sagna went into the game with a low plank of 2.09 points to beat, a plank he set in the Gunners’s 3:1 win over Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League, in which he came in from the bench. He now has an overall FTBL score of 102.16 points.
With less than 6 rating points separating him from the top 6 of our world ranking of defenders, Sagna will return in the top tier of the world ranking if France win.
