FC Porto midfielder Raul Meireles (pictured left) scored Portugal’s only goal in Game 2 of the World Cup 2010 playoff against Bosnia Herzegovina to earn his country qualification to football’s showcase event in South Africa.
Meireles was rewarded with a whopping 17.79 rating points in the FTBL system and, with a score of 102.54 points, is now Portugal’s best midfielder, pushing down Chelsea star Deco (93.93 points) to 2nd place.
Deco spent most of the game on the bench, coming in only in the 80th minute. Meireles, on the other hand, could continue his ascent in the ranking: the plank to beat in his next game will amount to just 3.3 rating points in the FTBL system, which should allow him to further extend the lead over Deco, whose plank to beat in the next game will be a daunting 23 rating points.
