Real Madrid’s legendary striker Raul has yet to use Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence to re-capture his lost standing in the team despite beginning his return in style: 2 goals against Real Valladolid and one against AC Milan in the Champions League. But since the goalless draw with Sporting Gijón, Raul was been benched by coach Pelligrini.
This lack of action has reflected on the former Spain international’s FTBL score: it has dropped from 135 to the current 90.69 points in a matter of a month. The coming La Liga game against Racing de Santander could be Madrid’s last without Ronaldo and, maybe, the last chance for Raul to attract attention to himself.
To avoid dropping lower in the FTBL rankings, Raul will have to clear a plank of no less than 10 rating points in our system. Since he is more likely to come in as a substitute, he will need a goal to beat that plank. In fact, Raul needs goals not just for our ranking. How else is he to return to a leading role at Madrid?
