The 2007 World Player of the Year, Real Madrid’s superstar Kaká (pictured right), returned to the top of the FTBL ranking of Brazilian midfielders in style after adding 13.66 rating points to his score as the Merengues defeated Racing Santander 1:0 in La Liga Saturday. But how long can he last at the top?
Kaká’s immediate rival, Juventus’s Diego, trails by just 1.12 rating points. His combined plank to beat in his next 5 games is 8.44 points higher than Kaká’s. This means Kaká’s overall advantage is less than 10 rating points. This could prove short in such a spirited battle.
Both players have not scored much lately, which means who ends at the top will be decided more likely through the overall successes of their respective teams. Real will host FC Zürich on Wednesday, while Juventus will travel to Bordeaux, in the Champions League. This means the favorite to end up at the top of the ranking remains Kaká. But that is only until Sunday, when Real Madrid take on bitter rivals Barcelona. The Catalans have won the last two encounters with an aggregate score of 8:2.
