Fiorentina’s Peru international Juan Manuel Vargas (pictured right) scored the only goal as the Italians yesterday narrowly defeated Olympique Lyon at home to all but qualify for the knockout stage of the Champions League, further consolidating his lead in the FTBL ranking of Peruvian defenders in the process.
Vargas earned approximately 25 rating points in the FTBL system in the game to push his score up to 93.59 points. He also captured a spot in the top tier of our ranking of defenders in the Italian Serie A.
Vargas will go into the Champions League game against Liverpool with a guaranteed bonus of 1 points resulting from Fiorentina’s 1:2 loss to Genoa in Serie A action, while his plank afterwards (against Inter Milan) will be a daunting 11 rating points. He set the plank in the 3:1 win over Catania.
