Wolfsburg’s Bosnian international Edin Dzeko scored twice against Werder Bremen yesterday in the Bundesliga, his second productive match in a row after the goal scored against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League last weekend. This is a good sign, given that the former # 1 striker in the world on the FTBL ranking had scored just once in the previous 9 games.
The two goals earned the Bosnian 24.7 rating points in the FTBL system and boosted his tally to 154.38 points. Dzeko is now back in 2nd place in our ranking of strikers in the Bundesliga, albeit still substantially far behind leader Claudio Pizarro of Werder Bremen (20 points).
But Dzeko will have a perfect chance to close the gap in his next 4 games, in which he will face a combined plank of just 15.61 rating points to beat. If Wolfsburg can win a couple of matches and the Bosnian score a couple of goals, that should be enough to overtake Pizarro, who is currently out on injury. If the Peruvian returns earlier than expected, that would make things even easier for Dzeko: Pizarro’s combined plank to beat in his next 4 games is more than 80 rating points.
