CSKA Moscow’s Czech international Tomáš Necid completed the last game of the season in the Russian Premier League at the top of the FTBL ranking of forwards, managing to hold off Lokomotiv Moscow's Dmitri Sychev, despite the latter’s incredibly robust end of season. Yet it is still too early to celebrate.
CSKA Moscow still have a Champions League game against Turkey’s Besiktas J.K. on December 8, and that game will ultimately determine who ends up as the top striker in the Russian league. Necid will face a plank of 13.5 rating points to beat, and given the fact that the gap with Sychev is just 8.47 points, a loss in Turkey for CSKA will mean the Czech will be unable to hold on to the top spot.
A draw will also do the trick for Necid, but only if he plays the entire game without substitution. But if coach Leonid Slutsky decides otherwise, the battle with Sychev could be decided by the amount of time Necid spends on the pitch in Turkey.
