CSKA Moscow yesterday qualified for the first time to the knockout stage of the Champions League after overcoming Turkey’s Besiktas J.K. 2:1, with Russian international Evegeni Aldonin netting the winner to see his FTBL score rise to an all-time high 80.84 points, one of the highest among Russian players.
Aldonin, who picked up more than 20 rating points in our system after yesterday’s game, is ending the season in 3rd place in the FTBL ranking of Russian and CSKA midfielders. He had never before achieved a score of more than 80 points.
Among midfielders at CSKA Aldonin is behind Serb Miloš Krasic (113.21 points), who had the opener yesterday, and Alan Dzagoev (89.91 points). Zenit St. Petersburg’s Konstantin Zyryanov still tops the FTBL ranking of Russian midfielders with 98 points.
Aldonin will begin the next season with a guaranteed bonus of 0.95 rating points in our system. His chances of hitting 100 points look quite good.
