Despite a hat-trick against Sport Club Recife in the last game of the season, forward Washington lost the battle for top scorer in the Brazilian top league, while his São Paulo couldn’t keep its league title. Nonetheless, the striker ends the season at the top of the FTBL ranking of strikers in the Brazilian league.
Washington picked up approximately 40 rating points in the FTBL system in that last game alone to overtake Flamengo star Adriano in the ranking with 141.53 points, against Adriano’s 128.88 points. This was slightly lower than Washington’s score at the end of the last season.
Washington also captured the 3rd spot in our ranking of Brazilian strikers, and despite the fact that São Paulo will not play official games until next spring, he retains the possibility of improving his ranking; that is if his rivals drop. Washington currently trails AC Milan’s Alexandre Pato, the current # 1, by more than 7 rating points.
