La Liga: Valencia’s David Villa Still World’s Best despite Loss to Real Madrid

Valencia’s prolific striker David Villa (right) has now been the highest ranked player in the world on the FTBL list for two weeks running as he extended his goal-scoring series to 5 straight games despite yesterday’s 2:3 loss to Real Madrid.

Villa leveled the score at 1:1 yesterday and increased his overall FTBL score by 9.35 points to 223.51 points. How will he fare going forward? Well, he faces a series of difficult matches in the future: he will have to clear a plank of more than 55 rating points in our system in the first two, and that means he needs to score even more goals.

It is worth remembering, though, that Villa has had an even higher score this year: he achieved the level of 234 points last June in the Confederating Cup. In the Euro 2008 championship, he even went as high as 265 points.
