Liverpool’s Dirk Kuyt (in a red shirt) is just 3.24 points from the top spot in the FTBL ranking of Dutch forwards, with rival Robin van Persie of Arsenal now sidelined by injury. Can he rise to the top?
Kuyt’s plank to beat in the next game is a high 21 rating points. To overcome such a plank, he will need a win coupled with at least a goal. Liverpool’s next opponent, Portsmouth, despite sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table, were able to put up quite stiff opposition against No.1 Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and only narrowly lost 1:2. At home, we reckon, Pompei will be a much more difficult side to beat.
Even if he fails this weekend, the Dutch international will have another try when Liverpool host third-from-bottom Wolverhampton Wanderers. Kuyt will face a plank of just 6 rating points to beat then. But it will be good to win first this coming weekend against Portsmouth to avoid letting the gap with van Persie further widen.
