Yoann Gourcuff’s 77th minute goal made it 4:1 for leaders Bordeaux against FC Lorient. The France international returned to the top of the FTBL ranking of French midfielders and is perfectly positioned to remain at the top at least until the New Year.
The plank to beat for Gourcuff (right) in the next game is a lowly 3 rating points, while his main rival, teammate Alou Diarra, will face a hurdle 14 points higher. Only a hat-trick can do the trick for Diarra, but given that he has scored just 4 goals in the past year and a half, that looks quite unrealistic.
Gourcuff will also begin the New Year in good position: he will face a combined plank of just 37.5 points to beat in his first 3 games. If Bordeaux keep their current form, that should not be a problem.
