Brazilian Midfielders: Arsenal’s Denilson Threatening the Stars

Arsenal’s youngster Denilson added a whooping 26.97 points in the FTBL system after netting the 3rd goal in the Gunners’ 3:0 trashing of Hull City on Saturday. The gain allowed him to claim 3rd place in the ranking of Brazilian midfielders.

Denilson now trails Real Madrid’s Kaká by just 2 points and change. With Kaká still sidelined due to injury, Denilson has the means and opportunity to overtake his illustrious rival before the year ends: all he needs to do is add less than 15 points in the remaining 2 games.

How realistic is that? The first game will be against improving Aston Villa, and the Gunners can more than realistically pretend to at least a draw here. The next game will be on the road against bottom-placed Portsmouth, who shocked Liverpool on Saturday. But it is unlikely Pompey have the stuff for another such stunt, and, to make things worse for them, the Gunners clearly have the upper hand in fixtures between the two teams. One win and a draw will be enough for Denilson to overtake Kaká, one of the world’s most talented players. The 21 year old will then be less than 8 points from the top spot.
