Ranking of U-21 Players: Sergio Aguero Imperial

Despite Atlético Madrid’s less than impressive performance in La Liga so far, Argentine international Sergio Agüero (right) ends the year as the uncontested leader in the FTBL world ranking of U-21 forwards. Diego Maradona’s son-in-law tops the ranking with 154.38 points, some 36 points more than his nearest rival. In addition, he is the top Argentine striker at the moment.

Agüero has achieved such success on the back of very impressive personal performances; he has scored 7 goals in his last 8 games, among them against Real Madrid and a double against Chelsea. Had Atlético been more stable, Agüero could have been in position to claim a place in the World Top 23.

Agüero will need to “defend” less than 20 rating points in the FTBL system in his next 2 games. That will not be easy, since the opponents will be No.3 Sevilla and No.12 Real Valladolid, to whom they have lost the last 2 games. In addition, the current state of Atlético provides little ground to expect a reversal of trend anytime soon.
