Lille’s Cote d’Ivoire forward Gervinho beat the daunting plank of 37.6 rating points he faced in the Ligue 1 game against Nancy yesterday with a lot of style: 2 goals and a 4:0 away win.
The performance allowed him to conserve his position at the top of the FTBL ranking of Ligue 1 strikers. His main rival, Bordeaux’s Moroccan international Marouane Chamakh, however, managed to reduce the gap to 10 points and change after his own 2:1 win at Toulouse.
Gervinho will need 105.87 rating points in our system in his next 5 games to remain at the top, while Chamakh faces a hurdle 30 rating points lower. But given the fact that Lille have won 6 in a row and scored 22 goals in the process, the Ivorian certainly seems capable of the feat. If Lille continue in their current form, Gervinho could well end up in direct competition with the likes of Drogba, David Villa, and company.
