The top midfielder in the Italian Serie A going into this weekend’s round of games is AS Roma’s Daniele De Rossi. But the gap with No. 2 Riccardo Montolivo of Fiorentina is a now a paltry 2 rating points.
Montolivo will face a plank of 15 rating points to beat, while De Rossi has to clear a bar of just 6 points. Roma and Fiorentina will play at home against weaker sides: Bologna and Genoa. The home sides should, therefore, win relatively easily.
Montolivo will have to score (with a win for Fiorentina) in order to overtake his rival. Alas, he is not known as a prominent goal scorer: just 3 goals last year. His chances of capturing the leadership are, therefore, only theoretical.
