The FTBL ranking of African midfielders underwent serious changes yesterday after Cameroon’s 3:2 laborious win over Zambia in the African Nations Cup: Arsenal’s Cameroonian star Alexandre Song now tops that chart.
Song has replaced fellow countryman Aurelien Chedjou of French side Lille. Chedjou picked up just 1.3 points in yesterday’s game and fell short of his plank for the game of 19 points.
Chedjou has now slid to 4th place, while Song is 12 points clear of his most immediate rival. Song will “defend” 17 points in the next game against Tunisia. He may fall short, but he could still retain the lead if Cameroon come out on top.
