Schalke’s Rafinha in South American Top 23

Schalke 04’s Brazilian defender Rafinha (left) carved out a place for himself in the FTBL Top 23 for South America after his side’s 1:0 win over Nurnberg in the German Bundesliga last Sunday. He boosted his score to 92.72 points, pushing out AS Roma’s Juan from the top 6 of our ranking of Brazilian defenders.

Rafinha ended last year with a score of a little over 50 points. So far this year he has enjoyed 3 goalless wins with Schalke, which have substantially boosted his score. He also scored against Hertha Berlin.

If Schalke continue on their success, Rafinha is bound to move further up the ranking. In the next game against Bochum, he will face a plank of 13.1 rating points to beat. The following game will be at home against TSG Hoffenheim, and his plank will be a negative -0.5 points. Rafinha’s score will move beyond 100 points by the end of January, provided everything goes well.
