AS Roma’s Norwegian international John Arne Riise posted the month’s biggest advance in the FTBL rankings. He scored one of the goals in the 2:1 win over Siena to claim the 3rd spot in the world ranking of defenders. He has added 35 points in our system since the beginning of January and, with an overall score of 135.97 points, is closing in on the leaders, Barcelona’s Dani Alves (153.65 points), and Chelsea’s John Terry (145.49 points).
Riise added 15.65 points in the win over Siena, a huge gain for a defender. He also captured the top spot in our ranking of defenders in the Serie A. But the Norwegian will begin facing difficulties maintaining that pace in the coming games.
In his nearest 2 games, Riise will avoid a loss only if Roma win without conceding a single goal; the plank to beat in each one of those games will be 14.60 points. Then, things will get even more complicated; Riise scored the winner in the game against Juventus in the 90th minute and was rewarded with 25 points in our system. Now he will have to “defend” that gain.
