Hoffenheim, the sensational leaders of the Bundesliga, have had a substantial clearout. While the Germans are on their winter break, the club has unloaded a number of players.
This seems illogical at first sight - after the injury to Wedad Ibisevic, Hoffenheim need to buy, not sell. Nevertheless, there is logic in it: the club is getting rid of some lesser-known players, so freeing up funds for new purchases. The Hungarian Zolt Low, the Brazilian Rodrigo Costa and the German Kirschbaum have all played an important part in the club's success, as reflected in their ratings - 13.5, -1.54 and 0 points respectively.
However, reliable goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand has been bought from Valencia (see photo, rating 27.18). As we can see, these moves have only strengthened the team, even though three have gone and only one has arrived.
