The German championship has just resumed after the winter break, and the leaders are still the modest, hitherto unknown Hoffenheim. The team, which has broken into the Bundesliga First Division for the first time, has no top-class world stars in its squad, but, after taking 38 points from 18 matches, is ahead of Hertha and such big names as Bayern, Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen.
Bosnian Wedad Ibisevic (pictured) is the only Hoffenheim player among the leaders in the Bundesliga ratings. Ibisevic qualifies as one of the top 23 players with 127.50 points, but it is obvious that he will shortly be overtaken. The striker will not play again this season after suffering a serious injury.
Among the club's other players with high ratings is the Senegalese striker Ba with 70.31 points. In the last match with Energie Cottbus, which Hoffenheim won 2-0, Ba opened the scoring and ended up with 23.70 points from the match. The second goal was scored by the Cote d'Ivoire striker Sanogo - this earned him 19.26 points, bringing his total to 57.82.
Hoffenheim face a difficult match in their next home fixture: the Bundesliga leaders will entertain Bayer Leverkusen.
