Atletico Madrid extended Barcelona’s miserable 2-game run thanks to superb efforts from Argentine striker Sergio Aguero and Uruguayan Diego Forlan. The two scored twice each, earning their side a dramatic 4-3 victory, while Barcelona, after losing the 3 points, is now only 4 points ahead of Real Madrid in the race for the La Liga title.

The intensity was palpable in the game. After Henry’s and Messi’s goals, it seemed all was lost for the Madrid side, but Forlan first lashed a shot from 25 meters and flew past keeper Valdez and ended into the left-hand corner. Aguero, after a mistake by defender Marquez, was let in to beat Valdez again with admirable self-control.

The two Atletico Madrid forwards had a few other chances to stand out, but Henry was once again there to score his second a little before the final whistle and restore his side’s lead. But Henry, almost immediately after, was caught in the penalty area trying to help his side and conceding a penalty. Forlan was right on target to level the game.

Atletico grabbed the winner at the 89th minute after Aguero, again, was served by Maniche and left behind Dani Alves and Carles Puyol before sending the ball past Valdez.
Henry missed the last opportunity to save a point in injury time when he missed a meter from the spot. Now the French international, despite earning 6.36 points in the game, has exited the list of best world players. His 163.97 points are not quite enough to remain in the coveted club.

The heroes of this dramatic game were responsible for Henry’s exit: Diego Forlan increased his rating by a whopping 28.63 points, while Sergio Aguero increased his by 36.85 points. The Uruguay international now has 182.25 points, while the Argentine has 179.53.
