Bayern - Sporting - 7:1. Portuguese shame

Bayern Munich shredded Sporting Lisbon in their 1/8 Champions League return leg. This time Bayern left no stone unturned, with a 7:1 trashing.

Lukas Podolski (pictured on the right), who was given the perfect opportunity by manager Jurgen Klinsmann with an inclusion into the starting lineup, opened the score 7 minutes into the game. He doubled in the 34th with a spectacular acrobatic shot. Podolski fully justified the confidence put in him by manager Klinsmann; he racked in a whooping 45.49 rating points! His rating now stands at 139.97, allowing him into the list of best football players in the Bundesliga. Now Klinsmann apparently has something to think about.

Sporting were virtually unable to do anything of substance. They even scored into their own goal, when Anderson Polga volleyed in the ball in an effort to clear a Bastian Schweinsteiger cross at the 39th. Moutinho pulled one back with a classy shot, but a minute later Schweinsteiger was right there to score the fourth for Bayern. He increased his rating by 27.21 points after the game and now tops the list of best midfielders in the Bundesliga, with 124.20 points.

Mark Van Bommel, Miroslav Klose, and substitute Muller completed the demolition of the Portuguese. Van Bommel now tops the list of best Dutch midfielders after earning 34.35 points in the game. His rating now stands at 108.83 points.
