Stade de Rennes forward Jimmy Briand (pictured) has grabbed the top spot in the French championship rating. The striker scored no goals in the last game, but the 2:2 draw against Le Mans brought Briand 10 rating points: that was enough to allow him to take the lead.
Briand now has 127.77 points, ahead of Karim Benzema, who has 118.57 points. Briand has scored 8 goals so far this season. His side, a solid mid-level team, is 7th in the standings with 47 points.
The Marseille-PSG encounter was of special interest amongst the remaining games. PSG lost 3:1 and now share the second spot in the standings with Marseille, indeed, with 52 points.
Ivory Coast international Bakari Kone, who scored one of Marseille’s goals in the game, added a whooping 23.23 rating points and now has 94.82 points. PSG midfielder Benoit Sheyrou, who did not score in the game, still earned a respectable 15.86 rating points: he now has 103.72 points and sits on top of the list of best midfielders of the French league.
