The return Champions League game between Barcelona and Bayern Munich was without much of an intrigue to talk of: the goal deficit the German champions had to close turned out to be too large for them. The two teams were just able to trade goals: to Frank Ribery’s (pictured right) goal, Barcelona responded with one of their own, through Seydou Keita.
Barcelona, who many specialists now bill as the clear favorites to win the competition, stayed on top of the game in Munich and allowed no leeway to manager Jurgen Klinsmann’s (pictured left) team.
The rather uneventful match reflected accordingly on the ratings of the players involved. French international Franck Ribery, despite scoring a goal, still lost 6.73 rating points. This was the result of Riberry’s failure to beat his achievement of 25.24 rating points earned in the World Cup qualifier against Lithuania. Ribery now has 115.91 points.
Seydou Keita, with is equalizer, earned 15 rating points, approximately the same amount as in the La Liga game in which Barcelona trounced Malaga 6:0. The Mali international’s rating has therefore remained practically unchanged at 90.71 points.
Defender Carles Puyol seems to have benefited most form the game: he earned 10.01 rating points, boosting his overall rating to 122.98 points.
