Juve Exit Italian Cup

Juventus, who have practically lost all realistic chances of winning the Scudetto this season, have also exited the Italian Cup. Manager Claudio Ranieri’s side were beaten 1:2 by Lazio in the semi-finals.

Claudio Ranieri (pictured right) left out Alessandro Del Piero (pictured left) from the starting lineup, and his side conceded two goals in the absence of their leader: first, Mauro Zarate curled a splendid shot into the upper corner from 25 meters, leaving Gianluigi Buffon powerless. Serb full back Aleksandar Kolarov doubled the lead from a deflected ball early into the second half.

Del Piero came off the bench in the 60th minute and scored four minutes later from an assist by Mauro Camoranesi. Juve were unable to produce more goals from then on. To add to their misery, Camoranesi was sent off with a few minutes left to play. The Italian international, who is just returning form an injury, lost 5.62 rating points in the game, seeing his already dismal rating slump to 29.70 points.

Del Piero lost even more rating points, despite his goal (almost 20 points). He now has 132.59 points. Del Piero had a too-steep hill to climb rating-wise after earning 30 points in the previous match against Bologna (4:1). He scored two of Juventus’ four goals in that game.
