Bordeaux’s 3:2 win away at Rennes helped push four of their midfielders to the top of our FTBL rating of midfielders in the French Ligue 1. Wendel, Alou Diarra, and Yoann Gourcuff (pictured) are now first, second, and third, respectively.
Manager Laurent Blanc’s side’s victory at Rennes was a hard-fought one: at times they seemed close to losing the three points at stake. The Girondains’ hour came at the 90th minute, when Gourcuff, on loan from AC Milan, grabbed the winner. Gourcuff had his first 20 minutes earlier, taking his tally so far in the championship to 10 goals in 29 appearances for Bordeaux.
Gourcuff now ranks third in the FTBL rating of midfielders, with 117.42 points. The 22-year-old has earned 80.17 rating points in his last five appearances. Teammate Wendel has 128.41 points, and Alu Diarra 119.82 points.
Fernando, another Brazilian at Bordeaux, a regular in the starting lineup, earned 7.60 rating points and has moved to seventh place in our FTBL rating of best midfielders, with 87.55 points.
