Diego Slides in Rating, Despite Werder's Win

Werder Bremen’s Diego lost his top spot in our FTBL rating of midfielders in the German Bundesliga 1, despite his side’s 3:2 win in the second leg of the UEFA Cup semi-final over Hamburg.

After losing 0:1 at home in the first leg, Werder needed only a win with more goals at Hamburg to advance into the final. Werder achieved just that by beating Hamburg 3:2, with Diego scoring the first goal.

The Brazil international earned 14.88 rating points in the game but still failed to move up in our FTBL rating. On balance, he actually lost 7.7 rating points after we multiplied earnings in his last five appearances by a coefficient of 0.1. Diego, therefore, now has an overall rating of 121.86 points, which means a loss of his top spot to Stuttgart’s Thomas Hitzlsperger, who has 124.66 points.
