Stuttgart forward Mario Gomez’s four goals against Wolfsburg in German Bundesliga action on Saturday allowed him to overtake Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney as the new leader of our FTBL Top 23 rating of best forwards in the world.
The four goals helped Stuttgart to a 4:1 home trashing of current surprise leaders Wolfsburg. The only goal by the visitors was scored by the former leader of our rating of forwards, Bosnian Edin Dzeko, who has now exited the group. The Bosnia international lost as much as 27.33 rating points in the game, which led to an exit form our Top 23 with 177.55 points over all.
Gomez racked in an incredible 39.41 rating points in the game, breaking into our Top 23 with 228.60 points over all and taking the lead. Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, the former leader, is now in second place with 210.91 points. The England international still retains a good chance of reclaiming the leadership when his side meet Manchester City, Wigan, and Arsenal between May 10 and 16.
