Our FTBL World Top 23 witnessed surprise changes this weekend, with the arrival of Udinese’s Gaetano D’Agostino (pictured left). The Italian scored one of the goals in Udinese’s 3:1 win against Lazio in the Italian Serie A to join our list of best midfielders of the world.
D’Agostino currently has 137.58 points over all and has elbowed aside recent Champions League hero Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta, who lost 15 rating points after his side’s 3:3 draw against Villarreal in La Liga. Iniesta now has 136.92 points over all.
Barcelona players, in addition to letting slip away the chance to clinch the title already this weekend, also lost rating points across the board: goalkeeper Victor Valdes led with 11.14 rating points lost. He now ranks behind arch-rival Iker Casillas of Real Madrid: Casillas has 103.16 points over all, to Valdes’s 102.80. Neither of the two is in our FTBL World Top 23.
Only midfielder Seydou Keita, who opened the score in the game against Villarreal, was in positive territory with 12.90 rating points earned. He now has 95.37 points over all.
