Chelsea’s Nigerian defensive midfielder John Obi Mikel (pictured) has returned to the top of the FTBL rating of Best African midfielders after a month of absence.
The Nigeria international lost the top spot on March 1 to Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure. Mikel, with a tally of 122.32 points, is just a few points ahead of his rival, who currently has 120.38. The fight for the top spot promises to be filled with excitement as the various championships come to an end.
Mikel, who ranks 20th in the FTBL World Top 23 for midfielders, has no real rivals in our ranking of Nigerian players: none of his teammates in the national squad has a rating of more than 90 points.
