Spain will kick off their Confederations Cup campaign today in South Africa against New Zealand, with their point man forward Fernando Torres of Liverpool facing a high plank of 27 rating points to beat; he set the plank in the 4:4 thriller against Arsenal in Premier League action with a double.
A weak performance for Torres could mean exit from the World Top 23. With a rating of 188.42 points, a loss tonight could mean Torres is overtaken by French international Nicolas Anelka, who currently has 185.17 points.
A strong performance, on the other hand, could power Torres past England’s Wayne Rooney and Sweden’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
