Valencia star forward and Spain international David Villa (pictured right), who is being insistently linked to a move to big spender Real Madrid, has grabbed the 3rd place in the FTBL Top 23 of the world's best forwards after another goal, this time against the hosts, in the Confederations Cup underway in South Africa. Spain went on to win 2:0, with Villarreal’s Llorente coming in as a substitute to claim the second.
Villa went seriously to work in the 51st minute, after having missed a penalty a minute earlier, when he connected in a cross from Liverpool’s Albert Riera to put Spain ahead 1:0. Llorente added the second in the 71st to seal the 15th consecutive win for the European champions.
The goal and the fact that Villa has scored his second in two consecutive matches has powered the Valencia striker up in ratings. With a bonus of 25.58 rating points in the game, Villa has now overtaken Liverpool’s Fernando Torres (212.12 points) in our rating of the world’s best forwards, as well as in the Top 23 of Spanish forwards, with a tally of 233.95 points.
