Fiorentina’s Brazil midfielder Felipe Melo, who until recently was buried deep in the FTBL Top 23 of Serie A midfielders and even flirted with the lower threshold at one point, has now improved his rating to the point of surging to the top.
Melo has been helped in his surge by a series of four excellent games with Brazil in which he even scored a goal as the Selecao beat the U.S. 3:0 in the Confed Cup. He picked up approximately 30 rating points in that game alone.
As one of the most enterprising and inspiring actors of Brazil’s 3:0 win over Italy in the same competition, Melo picked up approximately 20 rating points and now trails only Real Madrid new superstar sign Kaka in the rating of Brazilian midfielders with 145 points.
Melo will have a plank of approximately 20 rating points to beat in the semi-final game against hosts South Africa. He stands to lose his top spot only if Brazil lose to the Bafana Bafana, something quite hard to conceive.
