Real Madrid number one goalkeeper Iker Casillas has used the Confederations Cup to improve his rating after a lackluster campaign in La Liga: he picked up 60 rating points in the few games he was allowed to play with Spain in the competition to take his tally to 114.71 points.
Casillas now trails only Barcelona’s Victor Valdes (115.33 points). The Spain international earned 16 points in the match for 3rd place against South Africa (3:2 in OT) despite conceding two goals. He was helped by the fact that he got back the 3 points he lost in Real Madrid’s 1:3 loss to Mallorca in La La and the fact that we upgraded the Confed Cup to Category 7 in the playoff stage. Casillas now has the chance of grabbing the lead in our ranking of La Liga goalkeepers as early as in the first game of the season, in which he will have a plank of just 1 rating point to beat.
