Man United’s Van der Sar Sets New Record

Manchester United Dutch goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has now broken the record for the number of matches played without conceding a goal held until recently by Chelsea’s Petr Cech.

The Dutch international has not conceded a goal for 1,032 minutes, some 7 minutes longer than his Blues rival. Van der Sar last conceded a goal on November 8, 2008, from Arsenal French international Samir Nasri.

Manchester United trashed West Bromwich Albion 5:0 in the last round of the Premier League. Van der Sar picked up 14.60 rating points to boost his tally to 149.43. However, van der Sar is sure to drop in the rating as soon as he concedes a goal. The Dutchman’s main rivals are Liverpool’s Jose Reina (119.63 points) and Everton’s Tim Howard (109.64 points).
