The focus when France take on the Faeroe Islands in a World Cup 2010 qualifier Wednesday will be not so much on who will win this David against Goliath battle but rather on the race to top the FTBL ranking of French forwards between two main rivals, Chelsea’s Nicolas Anelka (pictured in the center) and Barcelona’s Thierry Henry (pictured left).
Henry is currently slightly ahead with 176.68 points against Anelka’s 174.72 points.
But the Barcelona striker will have a daunting plank of 25 rating points to beat in order to increase his lead, while Anelka will need to pick up just 9.45 rating points to avoid a slump.
Henry’s high plank results from the final goal his scored in the 4:0 win over Sevilla last season in La Liga, while Anelka’s plank flows from the 1:1 draw in the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona last May: Anelka did not score in that game.
