The combined FTBL rating of the 23 best players of the Bundesliga has dropped by more than 120 points and now amounts to 2,660.97 points, practically similar to the French Ligue 1 FTBL rating. The drop was, for the most part, a result of the shocking fall of last season’s champions Wolfsburg at home to Hamburg 2:4.
The fall was led by Wolfsburg goalkeeper Diego Benaglio (87.42 points): he lost 18.14 rating points after conceding 4 goals. He has now dropped from 1st to 2nd place in the FTBL ranking of goalkeepers in the league. Defender Marcel Schäfer lost the same amount of rating points and, with a tally of 88.51 points at the moment, has dropped from 1st to 4th place in our ranking of Bundesliga defenders.
In the midfield, Christian Gentner (7th in the ranking) and Sasha Reither (8th in the ranking) lost 17.89 and 18.3 rating points, respectively, to see their individual ratings slump to 105.44 and 103.42 points, respectively. Bosnian Zvjezdan Misimovic was able to cushion his drop with a goal and, with 136.77 points at the moment, remains at the top of our ranking of midfielders.
Team leaders Edin Dzeko and Grafite (pictured) in the attack were surprisingly toothless this time, losing 24.88 and 17.2 rating points, respectively, to see their ratings shrink to 217.76 and 167.23 points, respectively. But Dzeko and Grafite still managed to retain their 1st and 2nd spots in the FTBL ranking of strikers in the Bundesliga.
